New Papal Coat-of-Arms For B16
I had entirely missed a tempest-in-a-teapot over Pope Benedict’s original coat-of-arms. (See the header image.) Apparently heraldic experts sniffed at it because it dropped the three-tiered papal crown.
Another tempest-in-a-teapot has spun up over anew papal coat-of-arms (stemma papabile) displayed on a tapestry hung from a window that the Pope uses to give an Angelus address.
The three-tiered crown is back.
Cue the histrionics!
