Have your bottle of Syrah Palin at hand while watching the returns after the polls close from east to west in these key states:
Eastern Standard Time Zone: eastern Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, Pennsylvania*, Virginia
Central Standard Time Zone: Florida panhandle, northwestern & southwestern Indiana, Missouri
Mountain Standard Time Zone: Colorado, eastern Montana
Pacific Standard Time Zone: Nevada and a slice of western Montana
While swilling down your brewski — after you’ve voted — remember that all the exit polls collected together mean precisely nothing. Wait for the actual vote count.
Think of me with sympathy: I will be covering a local city council meeting beginning at 6pm PST tonight. Depending on how long it drags on, I may not know the election results until tomorrow.

* Pennsylvania is a blue state now in play because Nancy Pelosi’s righthand guy, John Murtha, called his constituents rednecks and racists in front of God and a microphone, instead of behind their backs in a private fundraising party. Should Pennsylvania flip to red and Murtha lose to William Russell, I will yell myself hoarse and chug Dr. Pepper until I choke.
