Five Liberal Myths Meme

Peter Cuthbertson at Centre Right picks up on Kevin Drum’s post requesting a list of five liberal myths, posting a list of his own five conservative myths. My personal favorite from Cuthberton’s list:

2. The reason there is a 15%-25% gap between average male and female earnings is massive irrational discrimination against qualified women, not different life and career choices by men and women.

That gap is personal: I took time off to raise our kids. Not only does that gap hit my earnings (in comparison to my husband), it also hits my retirement savings. I just will never be able to catch up, so I better remain married to him.

For the children!

As an aside, I read Kevin Drum’s list of five conservative myths and came away unimpressed. I don’t subscribe to a single one of them. That doesn’t make me liberal, or even just left of center. That makes his list unrepresentative of mainstream conservatism.

Do you find news here worth reading? Do you agree (or disagree) with my slant on that news? Buy me a cup of coffee! My recipe for a daily cup: 8 ounces of 2% milk, 2 shots of espresso, 4 shakes of ground cinnamon, 2 teaspoons chocolate syrup, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and a topping of light whipped cream. Drop a tip in my jar — whatever amount you want, whatever amount you think I've earned.
