Wilma is kicking Cancun one last time as she crawls towards Florida. The National Hurricane Center also has a new tropical depression named: Alpha’s center is currently over the Dominican Republic and is forecast to tromp northward through the Bahamas, sort of in the same direction as Wilma. Can two big storms coalesce? Isn’t that what happened with “The Perfect Storm?”
UPDATE: Michelle Malkin is watching Wilma and Alpha, too; she has links to local bloggers awaiting the storm’s landfall.
ANOTHER UPDATE: The Storm Track also thinks there may be a collision between Wilma and Alpha. Brendan Loy at Irish Trojan says that Alpha is expected to dissipate over the Dominican Republic after landfall. However, the NOAA discussion on Alpha suggests that Alpha will indeed meet up and be absorbed by Wilma within the next 36 to 48 hours.
