Epiphany is past, we’re into ordinary time — but no time is ordinary for a follower of Christ! Everything is numinous, filled with possibility. Every person is Christ, and each thing a creation of God.
Phew! Too heavy.
Let’s see what everyone has to say this week.
- Maria Yu at Art Life Spirit writes about The Still Point, Great Silence, and Original Sound, skating close to Eastern spiritualism before sliding back towards Christian mysticism.
- Leticia Velasquez at Causa Nostrae Laetitiae is inspired by the Feast of St. Basil the Great, and by her own mother.
- Fred at Deep Furrows answers a friend’s question about the nature of The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
- Kevin Miller at Heart, Mind & Strength ponders the Mass readings for Epiphany in To Him be Glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus, focusing on the connection of this feast with the Church and the Eucharist.
- Owen at luminousmiseries brings to our attention an Easter Vigil Experience by Goose in response to a writing prompt: “Conversion story highlight.”
- Moneybags at A Catholic Life did some research, and advises us to Avoid the Neocatechumenal Way because of their liturgical abuses.
- SWP at Vivere Christus est, et mori lucrum! wants to know that the Papal Preacher…strikes again! — a reflection on the Epiphany homily of Fr. Cantalamessa.
- Elena LaVictoire at My Domestic Church looks Hell square in the face and reports on the encounter.
- Christine at Domestic Vocation was thinking about how to handle her new position as chair of her parish’s Respect Life Committee, and had an Epiphany that she wants to share.
- Andrew Kosmowski at Pondering the Word offers a modest reflection On being called, based on recent Mass readings.
- Maureen Wittmann wants to tell us A nun story from her Catholic school days.
- Jay at Living Catholicism passes along the news that the Benedictines of Jesus Crucified Need Help.
- Jay at Deo Omnis Gloria explains why life is a key issue in the social justice discussion in Social Justice and Abortion.
And my own contribution: “Why Science Can’t Kill Religion” right here at Kicking Over My Traces.
Go thou now and convert the world!
Alternatively, just try not to trip on the way out. Sometimes that’s all the Lord can expect of me.
