The Spirit of America has received a request for help from Special Forces in the Horn of Africa:
From: Roberts SFC Joe L [address omitted]
Sent: Friday, April 21, 2006 3:27 AMHere’s an example of one way SoA may be able to assist. We were able to build some schools and clinics with our funds but have to find other organizations to provide desks, chairs, blackboards, uniforms etc. Other things as well that can be of use is soccer balls, basket balls, jump ropes, etc.
Other items of use:
-Solar lanterns
-Solar radios
-Solar anything to make use of the sun’s capabilities in this region
-Bicycles/Trikes with carts to hall water, trash, food, act.I think overall anything that SoA has done in Iraq/Afghanistan needs to and can be replicated with great success here in Ethiopia and the greater Horn of Africa.
Once again thank you for your time. Please let me know of any other information you need and I will reply ASAP.

SoA’s initial goal is to raise $11,250 for the purchase of solar lanterns, school supplies and soccer balls. If you’d like to find out more, or to donate, click through to SoA’s website.
Do you find news here worth reading? Do you agree (or disagree) with my slant on that news? Buy me a cup of coffee! My recipe for a daily cup: 8 ounces of 2% milk, 2 shots of espresso, 4 shakes of ground cinnamon, 2 teaspoons chocolate syrup, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and a topping of light whipped cream. Drop a tip in my jar — whatever amount you want, whatever amount you think I've earned.

Hey, I know a private working with this group. Seems like they are doing some neat things. It is aways good to hear of the US troops doing some very positive things for some very poor people.
