Seal Beach: Assemblymember Silva Speaks To League of California Cities
From the good folks at the city of Seal Beach:
California Assemblymember Jim Silva (R-Huntington Beach) addressed the Orange County Division of League of California Cities this morning. This is part of a continuing series of meetings sponsored by the League to build and strengthen relationships with Orange County State Legislators.
Mr. Silva discussed several issues including: 1) the state water crisis and current plans to allow the peripheral canal to be built using rate payer funds, 2) the California budget, noting that the State may not have the resources to repay local government “borrowed” revenues, 3) the need for the State legislature and cities to go out of their way to be business friendly “we need jobs”, and 4) his concern about the Joint Forces Training Base and its runway being closed. “The State is aware of the problem and knows that the cities and Congressmen are also concerned. The Joint Forces Training Base is strategic for all of Southern California”, said Assemblymember Silva.
Assemblymember Silva serves on several key committees, including the Assembly Budget and Government Organization Committees. Assemblymember Silva has been a strong ally of local government, recently proven once again by his votes on the State budget.
