From the good folks at the Cypress Police Department:

On October 24, 2009, at approximately 5:09 pm, the Cypress Police Communications Center (West-Comm) received several 911 calls reporting a motorcycle accident in the 11500 block of Halawa Lane in the City of Cypress. Officers arrived shortly after to find the motorcycle rider, a 47 year-old resident of Cypress, had crashed and was underneath a parked car unconscious and nonresponsive.
Witnesses reported the single male rider was traveling at a high rate of speed on the residential street while doing a “wheelie” and lost control and crashed. The rider was wearing a helmet.
Orange County Fire Authority paramedics responded and treated the rider then transported him to UCI Medical Center as a trauma. Investigators also determined the rider had objective symptoms of driving while under the influence of alcohol. Due to the riders medical condition, he was not taken into custody. Instead the case will be forwarded to the Orange County District Attorney’s office for consideration of filing DUI charges.
Anyone with information regarding this accident is urged to call the Cypress Traffic Safety Bureau at (714) 229-6624.
