Carnival of Hurricane Relief, #62

This is the 62nd Carnival of Hurricane Relief. The first was hosted by Glenn Reynolds at the urging of Hugh Hewitt with the support of N.Z. Bear in direct response to the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast. CoHR also recognizes the havoc wreaked by Hurricane Rita, and to a lesser extent Hurricane Wilma. CoHR continues to support the areas of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida that remain deeply in need of support from the rest of the country.

“One from the Heart,
One for the Gulf”

A special Christmas shopping edition of the
Carnival of Hurricane Relief
is planned for November 9th.

If you are an individual, small business, or non-profit
on the Gulf Coast and were directly and adversely affected by the hurricane season of 2005,
we would like to list you in the
special Christmas shopping edition.

The goal is to provide a spark to the Gulf Coast economy.

We are not looking for direct charity cases.
You, your business, or your organization must have something purchasable
that can be illustrated in the listing.
That something can be a good or service.

The listing is free.
CoHR will not be selling.
It will act as a directory, pointing readers in your direction.

A skeletal website for the
special Christmas shopping edition
of CoHR
is available for you to see example listings.

If you would like to be listed, please send email to cohr@cehwiedel.com.

Please forward this opportunity to anyone who might benefit.
New entries will be accepted through November 5, 2006.
The special edition will remain posted indefinitely.

Please inform anyone who might enjoy participating by purchasing a good or service through the directory,
to support Gulf Coast recovery.

This year,
while checking off items on your Christmas list, consider
buying one item from the heart, one for the Gulf Coast.

Now: on to the Carnival!

See the CoHR homepage for administrative details. Links to posts appear below.

Between them, N.Z. Bear and Glenn Reynolds have also launched PorkBusters, to push the effort to fund Katrina’s bill by cutting expenditures in the federal budget. Pull out your pig-stickers and check out N.Z.’s PorkBusters page!

Special Note: A Squidoo Lens has been created for CoHR.

A Squidoo Lens is a way to organize online information.

Two small payments have been made to
the Grameen Foundation USA
based on income derived from the CoHR Squidoo Lens.
However worthy in itself, the Grameen Foundation USA
is not a good fit for CoHR.

We would prefer to donate the income to a local charity working directly on Gulf Coast recovery.

We encourage Gulf Coast charities
to register with Squidoo
and let CoHR know.

Do you find news here worth reading? Do you agree (or disagree) with my slant on that news? Buy me a cup of coffee! My recipe for a daily cup: 8 ounces of 2% milk, 2 shots of espresso, 4 shakes of ground cinnamon, 2 teaspoons chocolate syrup, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and a topping of light whipped cream. Drop a tip in my jar — whatever amount you want, whatever amount you think I've earned.
