This Week’s Carnival of the Capitalists is Up!
Hosted this week by Business Opportunities And Ideas.
Here are the first three posts that made me click through — see if you can identify a similarity among all three items:
-
The first-click-through award goes to Michelle Cramer at Small Business Buzz for “Learning From Experienced Entrepreneurs” because ’tis better to learn from somebody else’s mistake. Come up with a creatively new mistake of your own. My favorite suggestion? Market from the start.
Why? Have I mentioned that I am a freelance commercial writer?
-
The second-click-through award goes to Mike Buckley at Mine Your Own Business for “How Not to Lose” because he picks up on a marketing hook that I recently spoke about to a group of small business people: current events. In Mr. Buckley’s case, he uses the sad win-loss record of a local football team. Keep your eye on current events and see how to tie in your marketing — without being lame.
Did you know that a frequent task for a freelance commercial writer is creating timely (and not lame) marketing copy?
-
The one-more-before-the-door award goes to Anita Campbell at Small Business Trends for “New Business Ideas: Convenience at Your Doorstep” because I’m a sucker for new business ideas. My favorite of those listed is franchised junk removal company 1-800-GOT-JUNK — and not just because my house could benefit from its service.
Start-ups and single-person businesses are what this blog is all about. Every new business needs a marketing plan. Every marketing plan, at one point or another, needs copy. Oddly enough, I might be able to help with that last problem, since I am *cough* a freelance commercial writer.
As always, there are many more posts than the three listed. Click through for the full capitalist court press!

Thanks so much for including MYOB in the Carnival this week, especially for “click-through” award. The selection of articles this week is excellent. Keep up the good work.
