Microwave Applesauce – New Recipe Posted
This is the fifth recipe in the fourth collection in the recipe subsection of my personal website: Microwave Applesauce.
Click through for the same recipe as below with a photo illustration. This recipe follows the new website format. Recipes posted in the earlier collections in the recipe section are in the old format.
An ebook containing all ten recipes from the third collection is now available (pdf).
Ingredients
2 medium tart apples, peeled, cored & sliced
1/4 C water
2 Tb brown sugar
1 Tb cider vinegar
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp cloves
1/8 tsp ginger
1/8 tsp saltInstructions
1. Put all ingredients in a microwavable bowl and stir to distribute.
2. Cover and microwave on high for 4-6 minutes, depending on the power of your microwave oven.
3. Remove cover, stir, replace cover and microwave on high for another 4-6 minutes.
4. Transfer everything to a blender or food processor. Process until smooth. Serve warm. Refrigerate any leftover.
Serves 2 to 4, depending on what else is served.
Notes
* This recipe is tweaked from one found in the January/February deadtree issue of Cooking Light.
* I use Granny Smith apples.
* This works well served with pork.
I will submit this to the Carnival of the Recipes.
The first and second collections of recipes are available as a free downloadable ebook from either the recipe section or the ebook section of my personal website.
(You are invited to explore my entire website — kick off your shoes, sample a cookie, flip through the photo album, stroll through the shops and check seasonal promotions and specials, read up on national and local news, sneak a peek at the latest inside information — stay as long as you like.)
